It is good to start out asking about the person's hobbies or interests to find out if you have anything in common. Also, find out if they have any children. You can also inquire about their current job or career. Good luck!

If I were trying to make conversation on a date I would ask the person about their family, or maybe their siblings. I also like asking people about their favorite vacation spots. It makes people smile when they are thinking of good memories and you can learn about new places.
