One great thing is to collect pictures from everyone that span the ten years and put them together in a really nice album: chosee a few special ones for a collage frame, too. Secondly, choose something you know he loves that is not "churchy" and make it the party theme.

I would say the best thing to do it throw him and his wife a huge surprise party. Find out what their favorite foods are and invite the whole church.

Think about his sermon illustrations and other times he talks about things he likes or connects with, and relate themes and gifts to those things he mentions. Listen for authors, sports teams, tv shows or movies, for example. Keep it light, fun and humorous -- I am a priest, and can assure you it does not need to be religious!
