CDs from their musical era would be a nice addition to their collection. A gift basket with wine and cheeses and snacks is an idea. A woman would like a basket with spa gifts in it. Tickets to a concert that they would like is good. Movie theater tickets or restaurant gift cards are terrific.
Well, avoid the "over-the-hill" theme. Fifty of anything - quarters, flowers, candies, magazines or whatever the recipient would like - might work well, is unique.
