What are some family friendly small breed dogs?

It really depends on how the dog was raised but Yorkshire Terriers, Chihuahua, Shih Tzus, Pugs, Beagles, Dachshuns, and Boston Terriers from my experience tend to be good with children. In the end though it depends on how the dog is treated and raised. If it was abused or beaten as a puppy then it could be less friendly.

You need to keep one thing in mind first. If your children are under the age of 10 and you are planning on purchasing a small breed dog then WATCH YOUR CHILDREN around this dog. Teach them the proper way to interact with it because ALL small breeds can be nippy. Bichons, Poodles and Westies are probably the best.

Well, some very good small family friendly dogs are poodles, Shitzuhs, and miniature collies. They are lovable cute, and adorable. I own a poodle and she loves everyone so much.

Some of the smallest, most friendly dogs are the Australian Shepherd, the soulful basset hound, the beagle, the schipperke, the Bichon Frise, or my personal favorite the pug; these dogs are friendly with kids. Some other small friendly dogs include the welsh corgi, the scottie, the yorkshire terrier, dachshund, and the shih-tzu, however are not friendly with kids.
