There are several Websites that list military jargon and acronyms. You wear BDUs=Battle Dress Uniform. You go to "chow" not lunch or dinner. You shop at the BX=Base Exchange (like a department store) or the PX=Post Exchange (like the grocery). Bird Farm=Aircraft carrier. A Bin Rat=somebody who works in supply.

There are many examples. A POV or personally owned vehicle is an automobile owned by a member of the military. A CASH is a hospital unit in the field. EOD is explosive ordinance disposal which is the military bomb squad. fubar #$@! up beyond all recognition means something is bad.

Puddle Pilot is a member of the Coast guard.Gunny a sergeants rank in the Marines.Jarhead, Leatherneck,and gyrene is aterm to mean Marine.

Each branch has its own jargon, BOHICA and SNAFU (not exclusive to Army); Marines: Jarhead, Leatherneck, Vice; USCG: Coastie, Swimmer, FAC; USN: Puddle Pirate, Belly Robber, Bullet Sponge. Some branches use "the can. " The Navy goes to "the head. " There are lots of websites that list and explain military jargon.

The military, and even different branches of the service, have their own way of speaking. "Wilco" translates into "will comply", "Semper Fi", always faithful, "Plebes", Freshman at West Point, and "Copy that", I understand what you said, are all examples of the unique language of the military. Copy that?
