If you drink soda, stop. Also keep an eye on your fruit juice intake. When cooking, try using no sugar added soy milk, you can't tell the difference in cooking, and it knocks out the sugar. There are also reduced sugar jams by smuckers that are good.

One way to reduce sugar is to drink water instead of regular soft drinks. Consider diet drinks. Rinse canned fruits and vegetables with water.

A good way to cut down on using sugar is to substitute. You can substitute the sugar out for a natural sweetener or do half the amount you need in sugar in a substitue. Applesauce is a really good substitute, and it gives whatever you cooking extra moisture. you can also try honey, coconut sugar, maple syrup, and malasses.

You have to look at labels on everything you eat. Try using Splenda or equal instead of sugar in tea, coffee, cereals, etc.
