Your pharmacist, too, will monitor multiple medications and beware of difficulties with possible interactions and notify the prescribing physician. If it not a good idea to seek this sort of advice from lay persons.

Diabetes drugs can interact with a variety of other prescription and OTC drugs. These include beta blockers, niacin, antipsychotics and diuretics.

You want to make sure that you are not mixing your medications with antibiotics of any sort. It will have a devious effect on the body.

Well if you want to be careful of the interactions, you want to avoid anything with a strong antibiotic base. Do not mix your diabetes medicines with those because it can cause a bit of a reaction.

There are naby potential interactions, the most worrisome being ones causing hypoglycemia. These would include combining insulin with any sulfonylurea like Glyburide. You should also not combine two sulfonylureas. Biguanides can cause hypoglycemia but are less problematic than the sulfonylureas. Always check with your doctor or pharmacist first before taking meds.
