Simple designs like flowers and vines are best for the lower back. Abstract tattoos tend to do better in this area since they don't look so pasted on as say a car. If all else fails, look at your tattoo parlor's flash archive. They should have a lot of curvey, simple designs that would work.

I think it is all in the person who gets the tattoo. Tattoos are art work showing you and your personality or what you like. However I like dolphins and trible art work on the lower back. Suns and moons are also a interesting tattoos for the lower back too.

The lower back is a great spot for a new tattoo, mainly because almost anything would look great there. Usually intricate or colorful tattoos look the best.

Flowers, angels, garlands or tribal, look in the books at the shop for inspiration but design it yourself. The cutest and best tattoos mean something--be original!
