Many times dogs get ear infections. This is easy to remedy by cleaning them once a week. The cleaning solution is not very expensive. Other then basic shots and flea collars a healthy dog should have no major problems. I would say that medical insurance would be a waste of money.

Depends on the dog but for large dogs there is a high risk of Hip Dysplasia or other joint related issues. Also, there is a risk of bloat in any dog that eats or drinks too fast before activity. Cancer and autoimmune diseases are also of high risk to certain breeds. Medical insurance helps if your dog develops it young.
