The best and more personal baby shower decoration I've done is a poster of the soon to be mom and dad as babies and little kids in comparable situations (mom at the beach and dad at the beach). It was a cute way to see what the parents to be looked like when they were younger.

A Noah's Ark theme is fun. Send ark-shaped invitations and in each ark, place two animals. On one of them, request that the invitee buy two of something in a category (clothes, bath supplies, etc.) Serve cupcakes decorated with animals, and play games that involve matching two things, saving for a rainy day, etc.

You can decorate for a baby shower with some practical decorations. Pairs of baby booties, clothes or baby bibs could be hung around the room. You could also use colored baby pins on the tables as confetti and baby bottles as flower vases.

Personalized things are always the best so I would get photos of the mom and dad when they were babies and put them up on the wall. Also see if you can get a copy of the ultrasound to put up.
