What are some art project ideas for gifted middle school students?

Ask the students to come up with some project proposals that are inter-disciplinary and that benefit the community. This will invest them in the project immediately, inspire them to be creative and encourage them to think about the potentially positive impact of their efforts. Have them research art projects that have achieved similar goals.

Have students pick a needy country and study the local culture and art. Then have students create their own version of the art. Do a fundraiser and sell the art. The proceeds could then be used to build schools in those countries. Free the Children has programs for students to help build schools in needy countries.

Gifted middle school students can create an artistic representation of a country of their choice. The students can create a flag, a map, traditional costumes, etc.

One idea would be to have the students research a certain artist, write a small essay , and create a work of art in the style of the artist.
