"Private Label" products are manufactured to the specification of a certain retailer, under the brand name of that retailer. (Usually the brand name would be that of the manufacturer. )

Shoes are bought from an unnamed manufacturer and the store label or brand is placed on the shoes, making them the store's own private label.
