Religious groups can limit hiring to those of the same faith. However, they cannot discriminate on the basis of race. They also cannot limit hiring on basis of gender unless there are health or safety limits. For example, those providing care or supervision of male prisoners can decide not to hire women due to the risk of violence and rape.

Depending on the state, there are several laws that you must abide by in order to follow what you want in your private organization. If for example it is a male only club, you must grant written permission from the state and local government to allow this.
