The electric current has a particular direction of its flow. It flow in a direction from positive outlet to negative outlet. The point from which current starts flowing is positive and other one is negative. These two outlets are electrically connected internally hence making the path of the current to be closed.

Positive and negative are generally only considered when dealing with batteries. The are very few household appliances that care about positive and negative. Usually it is just hot and ground.

ac and dc should be equal in parts while give the electrical wire connections. more imported is to give the work for knowledged persons who will do the needfull.
