What are normal angel fish behaviors?

Since they behave and hunt, as well as defend their fry like African ciclids, I would be inclined to answer your question as a yes. However if this is a first time behavior, I would suggest you consult your local aquarist who sold you the fish and ask him/her those questions.

If the fish is swimming that is a great sign. An active fish is a healthy fish. They will swim from side to side but they also have a tendency to hang out near the top of the tank. You may try to feed it as it could be searching for food. Fish are most active around feeding time.

Angelfish normally swim around their tank a lot, this is a normal behavior. I would probably be more concerned if the angelfish wasn't swimming around, to be honest. Something else that angelfish do that is interesting is swim parallel with other angelfish if they are in the tank. This is likely due to their eyes being on their sides.

Angel fish enjoy swimming around the tank as well as hiding in any plants. They also tend to be very aggressive when put in the tank with other tropical fish.
