1. A rare complication of long-term rheumatoid arthritis which involves an enlarged spleen and blood abnormalities. 2. Thyroid gland inflammation. 3. Respiratory inflammation of the bronchi leading to the lungs.

They can be flu-symptoms, a symptom of lyme-disease (tick-borne disease) or it can be meningitis especially if you have a stiff neck. Any of the mentioned possibilties are serious and should be evaluated by a physician.

This can be a sign of meningitis. If you also experiencing neck stiffness or a fever over 102 degrees, you need to be seen by a doctor as soon as possible.

Neck pain and fever could be symptoms of something simple such as the flu or something more severe like mono or meningitis. If the fever and pain continue more than a day or the pain is severe you will need evaluation by a medical professional.
