Ask their profession, if they're in school, life plans, etc. Don't get into very personal things such as marriage, future dating, children, etc. Try to stick to lighthearted questions that you would feel comfortable asking anyone. Ask about favorite items such as color, food, football team, sports team, T. V. show, etc. Good luck!

You should ask about their family, for example, do they have siblings. You can also ask things like what are their hobbies, where do you work, if you have any pets, where do you see yourself in 5 years also you can try if they have any children and if so how many and how old are they?

Anything you notice about them specifically; do they have a baby, what venue are you at, what colour are they wearing, do they have any piercings, tattoos, interesting clothing - anything that lets them know you're paying attention.

Where do you go to school (for someone younger) or where do you work? Where were you born? What was the latest book that you read?

Good icebreakers include talking about things that you have in common, the weather, where they went to school, or where they used to live.

You can ask about the person's past and their families. You can find out what their hobbies are and if they have any pets.
