To pull the moisture out of food such as fruit. This will help with keeping the fruit good longer. You can also dry meats for jerky. This helps with storage.

Dehydrators are great, especially for making beef jerky. Jerky is expensive to buy at the store. Our family loves jerky so we just go to the store and get a roast and cut it into slices,then let the dehydrator do its job. In a little time, we have lots of jerky rather than just a little bag for less money!!
