Making sure that wiring is designed to stand up to all kinds of weather is probly the most important step. Also making sure that you have a proper connection that is able to stand weathering outside, the connection to house is the place that could be the most dangerous.

The biggest considerations would include environment and cost. You would want to use either conduit or wire fit for outdoor use, or both. Also, remember that if you are going to be using a lot of power then you might want to consider using several runs of wire on separate circuits.

First of all you must consider the exposure of the wiring to water (rain, puddles, snow, etc.) and ensure that all circuitry will be watertight. You must also ensure that the type of cable you intend to use actually designed for outdoor use, and that all connections will be earthed.

Generally speaking ALL outdoor wiring must be GFCI protected. Consideration must be given to wet locations, national and local codes.

Electrical wiring outdoors has to withstand both the natural elements and the possibility of physical breakage. First, make sure the wire is properly rated for exposure to sunlight, or direct ground burial, if applicable. Also, wiring should be carried in conduit when and where there is risk of physical damage.

The main thing is to make sure to use a type of wire that will not be eaten by small animals. Also, it is primay to use an outdoor wire, and if you can, put it undergrown.

Make sure you use the correct wire for underground burial, or use PVC conduit. Most importantly, call a call before you dig hot line FIRST or you will run the risk of digging into some type of utility, gas, water, electric, etc, & you'll be in big trouble!

There are multiple considerations for installing electrical wiring outdoors. You need to check your local codes in case there are any special permits required. You need to decide where you will be pulling power from and what sorts of materials will be required.
