Chlamydia is a Sexually Transmitted Disease and is caused by bacterium chlamydia trachomatis. Most men and women do not have any symptoms hence it can go unnoticed. In women it causes lower abdominal pain during urination, bleeding after intercourse and vaginal discharge. In men this disease causes pain during urination and white discharge from penis.

Chlamydia infections can be completely asymptomatic. They can also cause abnormal discharge from the urethra in men and women and the vagina in women as well. This is even more true if the person was co-infected with gonorrhea at the same time as this infection causes more visible symptoms. Women especially may get pelvic or abdominal pain.

I had chlamydia when I was in college, and I didn't have any symptoms. I ended up at the doctor because of other issues, and had a chlamydia test done just to be safe. You definitely want to be checked by a doctor if you think you have any STD. Most of them can be treated easily.
