There are less Native American tribes in America now. It is only a few, maybe about seven federally recognized tribes that are scattered across the United States. The categories are the Alaskan-Hawaiian Tribe, Southeast tribes, southwest tribes and Southern Plains tribe.

There are hundreds around now, no exact number can be given because there are many that are federally recognized, some that are state recognized, and many that are not recognized at all, though these are usually excluded as they don't have enough to prove they are Native American. There are hundreds of tribes that were killed completely by European invaders.
