There are a few different tribes that are kind of grouped together as "Blackfoot" but generally they lived in northern America in the Montana area, and up in Alberta and Saskatchewan, Canada.

"Niitsítapi", "Original people", or "Blackfoot Confederacy" consists of: In Montana, United States of America: "Aamsskáápipikani", "Blackfeet", or South Piegan, In Alberta, Canada: "Aapátohsipikáni", or North Peigan; "Káínaa", "Blood", or Kainai Nation; "Siksikáwa", "Blackfoot people", or Siksika Nation. Their "Blackfoot" name came from the color of their dyed or painted black moccasins, possibly after blackening due to ashes from fires.
