2-stroke or 4-stroke simply descripes the way the motor works in that particular vehicle. A 2-strok mixes gas and oil and burns them together. This is thought to give a slight power boost compared to a 4-stroke, but nowadays this is not true. Advantage is you don't change the oil.

A 2-stroke is what you find in most dirt bikes. The are atypically lighter than a 4-stroke It really more of a rider preference. They require a mix of oil and gas, are usually louder, and wear out faster. They are quick, cheaper, and simple to work on though.
