Many animals are close to extinction, but mostly small ones that no one cares about except scientists. However, Siberian tigers are going extinct, and humans are trying to create protected parks to preserve them. Polar bears are expected to be nearing extinction also. Nothing has been done for them yet.

According to the World Wildlife Fund, the most endangered are the Black Rhino, the Giant Panda, the tiger, the Beluga Sturgeon,, the Alligator Snapping Turtle, the Green-Cheeked parrot, and the Mako Shark. There are hundreds more, though. The government has set aside national parks in several countries, and put many in captivity for protection and breeding.
