Depending upon your school system's curriculum, several topics are taught in eight grade mathematics. The topics vary, but most fall under the category of: 1. Basic Math: multiplication, division, addition, subtraction 2. Algebra: linear and quadratic equations 3. Geometry: Shapes, angles, planes, etc

Students begin learning algebraic concepts (pre-algebra/algebra) if they are ready. If not, they continue work on more basic concepts (fractions, percentages, arithmetic computation etc). Teacher(s) know how to help if students have trouble coping with the material; be sure to mention any concerns to him/her. If you're new to the school, requesting a placement exam is always an option.
