6-3 wire is a better choice especially when used for higher amperage ranges you can use 6-2 as a ground but I always prefer the higher value wire even for grounding the smallest projects a good ground is the best thing to work towards rather than using the industry minimums even if they are legal.

Either one will work. 6-2 means it is a 2 conductor cable plus the ground. So you will have a white a black and a bare or green ground.

You should use a 6-3 for wiring in ground. Make sure that you properly secure it at multiple points to prevent stretching of the wires after install. Also keep in mind to not expose the wiring to unnecessary risks by placing it in a location that may in the future face weather elements.

Either one should have a ground wire. 6-2 wire has one hot, one neutral, and one ground wire. 6-3 has two hot, one neutral, and one ground wire.

Actually more commonly, 6-2 wiring is 240v with one 120v hot leg, a second 120v hot leg and a ground.  add a comment

Completely depends upon what you are even wiring up. You use type UF wire for direct barriel in the ground.
