The Rhine River forms several borders between multiple countries. The best known is the border it forms between eastern France and western Germany. It also forms the border between northern Switzerland and southern Germany. In addition it forms a border between eastern Switzerland and the western edges of Austria and tiny Liechtenstein.

The Rhine River forms the border between France and Germany for 451 km (~ 280 miles). This is basically from the point the Rhine turns north by Basel (Switzerland) to the latitude of the city of Karlsruhe in Germany.
