If the button on the TV isn't working, but the one on the remote is, the switch that the button presses probably isn't making contact. It's probably too much trouble to fix, but if you're up to MacGyvering it, you might be able to pop the button off and just close the connection button with a paperclip when needed.

The best way to fix this issue is to buy a programmable remote to turn the power on and off.

Some manufacturers offer full repair manuals on the internet, do a little searching - you might find a parts list, and a breakdown of how to take apart your TV. If this sounds too complex, you could also use a univeral remote, and program it for your TV, and use that to turn the set on and off.

I have tried other remotes, and it won't work. I actually broke the manual power button where the connection is (and subsequently broke the panel behind it), but the remotes won't work. Any ideas?  add a comment

I was also told by a tv repair guy to just buy a new tv...  add a comment

If the power button on your tv is broken you need to chnage the power button and get the new one from the company or you can call a engineer from the company and fix it.
