Check for sores. If she is sore apply warm compacts to the "nursing area". Take mother to vet for a checkup. Sometimes it is necessary to bottle feed the pups.

You will have to feed them by hand, once every 2 hours or find another mother animal who has recently given birth who will feed them.

Puppy Formula and Preemie bottles and nipples are available at pet stores, WalMart and similar retailers. Mix as directed, warm slightly and feed as one would a human baby. After each feeding, you MUST gently massage the puppies rectum and genitalia with a warm soft towel to cause elimination.

The mother dog may be drying up or the puppies teeth may be too sharp and could be painful for the mom. This means you will have to feed the pups. You can purchase feeding bottles at a pet store or you can take some puppy food and soak in warm water. This will also help them.

We seem to have to put her in the box and lay her right or she won't feed them.
