Should I write a book or a screenplay?

I have a great idea that would work well for both a book and screenplay and can not choose which to write. Which would be more profitable?

Profit depends on how well the public accepts your book/screenplay. You could always write a book now and later adapt it into a screenplay.

Well, why don't you write both? Write the book first and see how well it does on the market. If it does well and you know you have a following, write the screenplay. If it gets popular enough, you might even get a movie deal. Though, you never know unless you try.
