Dry shade under shallow rooted trees is a challenge. The best solution is to search for selected varieties of native plants that are adapted to your conditions. Many nurseries now carry selections of native plants or you can contact your extension agent for a list of appropriate shrubs.

There are plants that can be planted in shaded dry areas they just require a little more attention to feeding and watering
