Yes. Especially if you are going somewhere where there is snow or hurricanes. The fact that you may get sick, and having to pay for that trip and not go will only make you sicker. You can negotiate travel insurance or decline the offered and get your own

I would suggest getting holiday insurance under 2 circumstances. One is if you are traveling to or from an area where there is the potential for bad weather that time of year. The other is if you have a close family member who is sick and who's health condition could cause a crisis that prevents you from leaving.
