There could be a possibility your cat has a cold or a infection in the eye, and or an allergy to something he/she comes in contact with. Contact a veterinarian as soon as possible. Some eye problems can lead to damaged tissue within the eye and could cause blindness.

yes you should be worried. It could be something simple as pinkeye or more complicated such as a corneal injury. See a vet.

Absolutely you should be worried. As a owner of multiple cats I have encountered many health issues. This sounds like believe it or not chlamydia of the eye.
