If you go swimming in water that is even slightly infected with bacteria you can get pink eye. Ear infections and strep throat can also be caused by swimming in infected water. It is also wise not to swallow any water while swimming because it could cause problems in your stomach as well.

Yes is is possible to get pink eye from swimming in lake. Pink eye is a bacterial infection. Most lakes have a lot of different types of bacteria in them. When you do go swimming in any lakes do not open your eyes in the water, this should help minimize the chances of contracting pink eye.

There are several hundred strains of pink eye and it is highly contagious, it is more likely that you have picked it up from a door handle or a sink faucet and then touched your eye. Be sure to wash your hands frequently and try to avoid touching your eyes.
