If a dog suddenly develops a red tongue it could be caused by several different conditions. Heatstroke, dehydration, heart trouble, blood disorders, and shock are just some of these conditions.

If her tongue is normally light pink and the redness is not all over, she may have eaten something abrasive and should be seen by the veterinarian. If it is completely red, she may be ill and will also need to be seen.

My Golden has the same thing, he's 10 mos old. Had bloodwork done, fecal was even sent out for a complete test and everything was fine. This tongue is not normal and I don't know what else to do!

It depends on how red it is. Dog's tongues are usually pink, some are lighter pink and some are darker pink. If it is truly red and it's not usually that color take the dog to the vet.
