If it's only affected one or two nails, it could be infection. However if all of his nails are peeling, he may have some skin problems. You may want to take him to a doctor.

Nails should not peel off, try to consult your pediatrician. Your toddler might lack some vitamin D and E or might have started biting off his nails.

They could be defficient with a particular type of protein, found in things like Jello. Don't worry unless it worsens or doesn't resolve itself in 10-15 days.

There is little reason to be concerned. Peeling nails are usually caused by frequent exposure to water. If it lasts more than a month, consult your child's doctor.

There is no need to panic, however I would definitely make an appointment with your toddlers Pediatrician. Nails that peel can be a sign of a vitamin deficiency.

Be sure to keep your child's nails cut short so it should not be an issue, this can cause pain if they accidentaly rip a torn piece of nail.
