Yes, it is always better to have something notarized then not. This will give it fuller standing in a court of law.

Yes! Most certainly!!! The court may accept a codicil, and it's perfectly legal to write one without benefit of counsel, but it can be easily challenged. At least, it should be witnessed by two disinterested parties, but if not drawn by counsel,it most definitely should have the imprimatur of notary.

The codicil has the same witness and notary requirements as the original will. A codicil is merely a change to the original will and so that means it requires the same formality or signatures and notary requirements as the original will itself. After the codicil is executed, you should keep both the original the codicil together.
