Every state has different laws regarding divorce/annulment, including requirements for residency. He should google "annulment" and the state where he lives. If he is military, he should seek assistance from his commanding officer and consult with the legal services provided on base.

You can get a marriage annulled as long as the marriage hasn't been consummated. If they have not had sexual relations then yes he can end it.

The only way to get a marriage annulled is to prove that the partners have not had sex yet. Otherwise, he will just have to get divorce.

He can get the annulment in California, showing irreconcilable differences of extreme stress like infidelity, proving the marriage was perfomed under fraudulent circumstances.

Your son should first consult with the legal counsel provided by the military on his base. He should also review the requirements for residency and annulment in the state where he now resides. He can find that information online. Generally, a marriage can be dissolved for fraud or deceit; however, each state sets specific requirements.

Anullments are not necessarily easier than divorces to obtain. In most there must be fraud involved; i.e., something he was not told that would have prevented him from getting married. If either party was completely intoxicated and has not cohabited with the other party since sobering up, that might qualify.
