My neighbor erected a fence on my property. Can I claim possession if she refuses to take it down?

You cannot claim possession of the fence but you can check your local zoning board and see how close the fence is on your property. If it is within your neighbor's property boundaries then there is nothing you can do about it. If they cross into your zone then you can file a legal suit.

What is the point of "claiming possession?" Ask your neighbor to move the fence, then if you are unhappy, remove it yourself.

no, you cannot claim possession, but you should take legal action to prevent adverse possession. If they keep it up for a number of years and you do nothing about it they can claim that piece of land

Technically if the fence was built on your property you can order her to remove it or remove it yourself. To avoid a lawsuit speak to a lawyer first.

No, in fact, if landowner does not formally object to the fence, the neighbor will eventually have a right of easement on landowner's property for the fence.
