Loose stools is usually a sign of a intestinal problem. Something they ate can be the cause. Separation anxiety can also cause some loose stools but I would check with what the dog is eating while you are out, like plants, trash, etc. Is there a pattern of vomiting which can also be a sign intestinal problems.

No, usually a problem like this has something to diet with the labs diet. It's also important to make sure their not eating that is loose around the their home.

Not medical advice: there could be a number of reasons why your dog has loose stool. Anywhere from diet to ,stressful situations and even drinking too much water. I would skip feeding for the day let them clear their systems and start the next day with a smaller amount of their normal feeding.

Your dog may be suffering from a nervous stomach. If the loose stools do not occur frequently and seem to only be when you are separated then that might be the cause. Try changing your dogs eating habits before you will be separated and see if that helps. Your vet may be able to prescribe something to calm your dog.
