My dog ripped his pad. What treatment should I use?

Depending on how deep the injury is, you might want to take him to the vet. If it is a small tear, use some ointment on the cleaned wound.

You will need to treat the pad with peroxide and apply an antibiotic ointment, like Neosporin. Then, bandage the area and make absolutely sure it stays dry (tie a bag over it). Change the dressing daily or twice daily and rinse with peroxide to prevent infection. If it gets worse, see a vet.

Make sure the rip remains clean and doesn't get infected. Use hydrogen peroxide to clean it and keep it wrapped. If it is a big cut or if it looks infected bring your dog to the vet.
