Is the skin in or around the spot red and irritated, scaly and dry or oozing fluids? Any of the above is a yes. They can be a symptom of mites, allergic reactions, fungus among other things. It's also possible the animal has been rubbing that particular spot repetitively and simply has fleas. A vet check will determine which.

If the source of the bald spot in unknown/irritated you should take your dog to the vet. This could be from an old wound or a hotspot.

Maybe, my dog once had a bald spot but it was because he turned out to be allergic to the flea collar we were using.

You will definitely want to pay attention to the bald spot to see if the dog scratches it a lot. If so, the dog might have a food allergy that is causing scratching.

It depends on how big the bald spot is and where it is located. You also need to know whether or not your dog made that spot or if it happened naturally. You should take your dog to the vet to get checked out, because one possibility is that your dog may have parisites. They may have caused this spot.

Bald spots in dogs can be triggered by many causes. Some include environmental allergies, food allergies, pregnancy, lice, infections and diseases. See a vet to determine the cause.
