My car is making a lot of noise and I can smell exhaust. What's the problem and what should I do?

If you are smelling exhaust inside the car by all means open a window so you do not get carbon monoxide poisoning, your muffler is probably not working right and you may need a new one your best bet is to take the car to a trained mechanic so he can fix the problem, and do so immediately.

You may have an exhaust leak in your system somewhere. With such little information it is hard to say what the problem is. Your best option is probably to take it to a shop and have it looked at.

If both problems came about at the same time then more than likely you have a hole in the exhaust under the car somewhere. Get underneath the car when it is cool and look for holes. It could be the pipe itself or a muffler. Once you find the leak repair it or take it to an exhaust shop.

If your car is making a lot of noise and smell so you should concern a very good mechanic for that.
