No, there is quite a bit of heat coming up to the top of the fridge. Store aluminium foil and wax paper up there.

It's find to keep dishes or decorations up there, but make sure smaller things don't fall behind and block the cooling coils. Because that area tends to get warm, keeping food there isn't always the best idea.
