Is there any way to tell the difference between muscle weight gain and fat?

Pinching the skin with thumb and finger is the way to tell if you have to much fat. If you can pinch more than an inch it is fat.

You could get your body fat tested at a gym & if that is going up, then you will know you are gaining fat, not muscle.

The best way to tell this is how your clothes fit and you can measure with a tape measure. If you're losing inches, it's muscle weight.

Its definitely a visible difference. With weight gain you will look as if you have GAINED weight. Muscle will always look like muscle.
