Question by  Forgotten1 (16)

Is there a book that will help determine the value of an old Singer sewing machine?

I have two: one my grandmother gave me and another one I just got from a great-aunt. Both machines work.

First check on Ebay for similar sewing machines. This will give you a general idea of what the value could be. However certain Singer machines are worth much more than others. The high dollar machines are usually ones that were used in industries such as factories. One of the highest valued machines were used during WWII to mend parachutes.

I don't think their is a book that just tells you the value. You can however, call 1-800-4-singer and give them your serial number they can then provide you with the date it was produced and model #. At this point you should be able to look on ebay.

Well there is no book that helps you determine the price of an old machine. The old machines aren't worth much these days unless it is over 200 years old. Then it would have some value because it can be placed in a museum. You might want to contact a museum and ask them what they would offer.

A book would not be helpful. The values of old Singer machines are determined by auction. You can check ISMACS News quarterly for recent auction prices on similar machines.
