Question by  notorious (249)

Is the Taylor 502 Connoisseur Meat Thermometer an oven-safe meat thermometer or an instant read oven thermometer?

I can't seem to find out if I can leave this in the oven as I cook the meat. I'd like to know before giving it a shot.

The Taylor 502 Connoisseur Meat Thermometer is perfectly safe to leave inserted in the meat as you roast it. It is made of stainless steel, glass and silicone.

The Taylor 502 Connoisseur Meat Thermometer is an oven-safe meat thermometer and can be left in the meat while it cooks. Like all thermometers you must take care to not place it against a heat source or against the wall of the oven, or the pan because direct contact with a heat source will decalibrate or ruin it.

The Taylor 502 Connoisseur meat thermometer is oven-safe, but you shouldn't use it over 440 degree F, as that may cause damage. Also, it can't be used in microwave ovens.

This meat thermometer is oven-safe up to 440 degrees Fahrenheit, which should cover the majority of your meat cooking needs.

The Taylor 502 Connoisseur Meat Thermometer is an instant read oven thermometer. This thermometer is not the type of thermometer that can be left in the oven while the food is cooking.

You can use it in the oven. It has silicone accents on the sides. Placing it in an oven with a temperature over 440 degrees might cause damage to the silicone, but that's the only caution. So probably the only time you wouldn't want to leave it in would be for broiling steaks, and you wouldn't really need it then.
