Is the electric company liable for damage to my house because of a transformer that blew?

For the most part, no. Transformers are usually located away from residential property for that very reason. If you had indirect damage, your homeowner's or renter's will take care of it.

Yes the company responsible is the one who installed the transformer, however if the transformer blew due to you using more power than a specific outlet allows then you are responsible for said transformer And all fees it costs to install a new one. Contact the power company and if they are not helpful and informative you contact a lawyer.

They are only responsible to providing you with electricity and anything else is your responsibility to upkeep. That is why the offer insurance in case something like this happens it will be covered.

Only if you can somehow prove that it was through their actions or negligence. If it blew from a lightning strike, or act of nature, then no.

They would only be liable for damage to your house if there was some sort of wrongdoing on their part. For example if the transformer had been installed long or security features such as lockouts were not working at the time. Most likely they will not be considered liable for the damage, but your homeowner's/renter's insurance should cover it.
