Scabies is contagious, but not just as a std. It's like lice. You can get rid of it in the same sort of manner. I would keep your distance from the infected person until they have rid themselves of it. Do not share gloves, hats, linens, etc.

Scabies is contagious, and since it is caused by mites burrowing in the skin, you can get it if you have contact with the person or anything the person has touched in the last 48 - 72 hours.
