Is it safe to drink beer past the expiration date?

I have some old beer in my refrigerator that I was going to drink but was concerned I would get sick.

I just opened a many years old Guiness. It was still carbonated and had a nice head. I took a sip. It does not taste like Guiness. Probably oxidized beyond belief. Too bad.

It really depends on how far past the date it is. Most dates are a sell by date, not really an expiration date (like with dairy products). If it's only been a week or so, it's probably okay to ddrink if it was unopenned. It's just not going to taste as good as a fresh beer.

Every product be it beer or anything else has an expiration date meaning that after that date it is not safe to consume it. So even though you have kept the beer in the refrigerator it is not wise to have it as it may lead to some problem. So why take risk, throw it away.

It will not make you sick, but you still shouldn't drink it. Beer does not become poisonous, but the flavor does change. Old beer does not taste as good as fresh; it can be quite disgusting.
